ZhongRun Century Plaza has a total floor area of 150 thousand square meters; it consists of four 25-27 storey high buildings and three 9 storey high buildings. There is a 30-meter-wide urban green patch situated along the road next to the site. The outward appearance of the building mainly consists of vertical lines; this gives it a strong modern feel.
One of the three 9 storey buildings is the objective of this optimisation. In the interests of simplicity the floors of the building have been numbered 1 to 9 with the ground floor as ground 1. Each floor has an area of 1800 square meters, Floor 1 is 3.9 meters high, and all other floors are 3 meters high. These dimensions give a network coverage area of approximately 8000 square meters. Below are the basic characteristics of the building:
1. The exterior is mainly made of glass, supported by reinforced concrete columns.
2. There is a hollow lobby situated between floors 1 and 2.
3. There are 3 elevators for staff to use, coverage is required.
4. The building is situated roughly about 300 meters away from an outdoor macro base station, and so the optimisation must attempt to minimise signal leakages.
5. The building provides both low and high voltage distribution on each floor. The position of the low and high voltage distribution rooms on each floor is the same.

Some office buildings are used by large commercial insurance companies. According to the site distribution and the number of offices on each floor, it is estimated to have approximately 700 staff on the site. 1F, 2F and 3F have approximately 100 staff, 4F approximately 80 staff, 5F approximately 50 staff, 6F approximately 100 staff, 7F approximately 60 staff, 8F approximately 60 staff, and 9F approximately 50 staff. It is estimated that 80% of the people will have their mobile switched on, among which 70% are China Mobile users, every users line traffic is approximately 0.02 Erlang. From the estimates above, we can obtain an estimate of the business load shown below:
700*0.8*0.7*0.02 = 7.84 Erlang
The site will undergo GSM and TDSCDMA wireless network coverage progress while setting aside the WLAN interface, for future WLAN coverage preparation. Based on the building size and taking into consideration the general amount of calls, the site will use remote radio (BBU+RRU) to build the source. Such sources can take a large capacity of calls and have flexible network and power supply features which have no special requirements. 3 group RRU (GSM 900 and TDSCDMA) were placed at 3F, 6F and 9F Weak Power room. BBU+RRU coverage, this type of program network is flexible, Baseband and RF isolation, Multi-channel spatial isolation, Reduced interference, very convenient expansion, Optical solder to the floor, RRU can be closely placed, Reduction in feed loss.
Based upon customer requirements for the building and network, Zhongrun Century Plaza is now taking the following optimisation procedures:
1. Reduce antenna and intermediate device numbers.
2. Adjust extension cable routing.
3. Adjust some sets of the antennas, including removing and re-locating antennas.
4. Adjust the transmitting power of RRUs
After the network optimisation of the building, every floor will meet the operator's standards for the indoor site. This solves the problem caused by design flaws resulting in signal leakage; and reduces interference from indoor to outdoor. Details of the specific network performance predictions are described later further in other sections of this website. According to the comparisons, using iBuildNet® can reduce the overall cost of the project by approximately 30%. A comparison of transmitting power of RRUs is shown in the table below:
The optimised GSM 900 network coverage is shown below. About 93% of the regional reception level is between -40 dBm to -70 dBm. 98.5% of the regional reception level value is greater than or equal to -90dBm, which completely meets the operator's standards for the indoor site. 1.5% of the overall building regional reception level is lower than -90dBm, the building's interior column, so is added to the same regional class.
