Welcome to Ranplan

Ranplan is a wireless technology company that produces the leading in-building wireless network planning and optimisation (P&O) software tool – iBuildNet^®. In addition to iBuildNet^®, Ranplan also provides radio access network (RAN) planning and optimisation solutions as well as consulting and training services.

Ranplan was founded in 2006 by a group of leading academics in RAN planning and optimisation along with private investors. Ranplan is headquartered in the UK with two offices in China, and several strong partnerships around the world.

At the end of 2010, Ranplan released the trial version of its world leading in-building network design and optimisation tool - iBuildNet^®. iBuildNet^® combines an extensive knowledge of in-building radio network design and optimisation with a fast and accurate 3D ray-tracing propagation engine and efficient software development codes.

iBuildNet^® has been selected and/or trialled by a number of industry and academic partners around the world, including China Mobile, China Unicom, AT&T, the University of Bedfordshire, the University of Sheffield.

Following the feedback from its global partners, at the end of Sept. 2011, Ranplan released the commercial version of iBuildNet^® Standard at the China P&T Expo. This world leading in-building network design and optimisation tool features superior 3D building modelling capabilities, fast and accurate signal propagation prediction, propagation model validation, measurement data analysis, joint indoor-outdoor heterogeneous network planning and optimisation.

Ranplan has been part of over ten R&D projects on indoor-outdoor radio propagation, femtocell, automatic RAN planning and optimisation, 3D building modelling, smart building and heterogeneous LTE-Advanced access networks. These projects are funded predominantly by EU FP7, EPSRC, EEDA , MOST, and local government grants. In addition to receiving funding for R&D, Ranplan also funds a number of PhD studentships in radio propagation, LTE/LTE-Advanced simulation, planning and optimisation.

About one third of Ranplan’s 30+ employees have PhD degrees. Our strong R&D capability and in-depth understanding of all aspects of radio network simulation, planning and optimisation ensures that our software tools are always at the forefront of innovation using cutting edge technologies to address the latest issue and developments regarding wireless communications. Ranplan is currently seeking strategic partnerships with network vendors, operators, radio propagation and radio planning tool vendors, and solution/consulting firms. We believe Ranplan technologies represent a valuable cost saving and value adding opportunity.
